In this role, you willโ€ฆ
  • Provide comprehensive, responsive, and timely legal advice and training to Claims, Underwriting, and Market Management on all insurance lines, with limited supervision.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives.
  • Advise on claims handling procedures to prevent insurance bad faith claims related to coverage provided to and/or settlement of claims against MedPro Group insureds.
  • Execute on coverage issues, preparing appropriate reservations, denials, or other letters for Claims as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with important clients, business partners, and other attorneys on significant developments and unique issues that raise the potential for litigation on individual cases and across broader legal issues.
  • Consult with the business on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing legal advice strategies and solutions for general business and legal issues.
  • Review policies and provide experienced coverage analysis.
  • Advise Underwriting on potential rescission/reformation actions and prepare appropriate correspondence.
  • Monitor and assist outside counsel in coverage-related litigation.
  • Assist Claims and Underwriting in responding to subpoenas and other legal requests.
We are looking for candidates withโ€ฆ
  • JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5-8 years of experience as a coverage attorney; experience preferred in professional liability issues including lawyers and medical professional liability, including defense of such underlying matters.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Westlaw.
  • Strong time management, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both an individual and team work environment.
  • Strong legal research and analysis skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective.
  • Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.

The annual gross base salary range is $100,000 to $145,000. This range anticipates the low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidateโ€™s qualifications, skills and competencies. Salary is one component of MedProโ€™s total compensation and benefits package, which includes medical, vision and dental insurance options, life and accident insurance, 401(k), and short-term and long-term disability insurance.
