ASSISTANT ACTUARY
IMT Insurance is looking to hire an Assistant Actuary to join our Research and Development Actuary department. This individual will independently develop rate level indications, provide pricing recommendations, and prepare supporting rate filing materials for multiple lines of business. You will also partner with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate, finalize, and implement rate changes within policy administration systems while ensuring alignment with profitability, growth and regulatory objectives. A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Independently develop rate level indications and provide data-driven rate recommendations across multiple lines of business, balancing profitability, growth, and market competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Marketing and other business partners across the organization to analyze market conditions and performance in order to develop and implement rate changes that achieve profitability and growth goals.
  • Develop and maintain rate filing documentation, including actuarial support and regulatory exhibits, and serve as the primary contact for responding to objections, questions, and information requests from state insurance departments.
  • Develop, test, and maintain rating engine components, including rates, rating factors and calculation logic, ensuring accurate premium generation within policy systems.
  • Develop and maintain competitive analyses to evaluate market positioning and emerging industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and implement system enhancements, product changes, new coverages, and process improvements within policy administration systems.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ACAS or completion of 4-7 actuarial exams with 4+ years of experience is needed to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Demonstrate developing technical expertise and knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Possess analytical, mathematical and technical problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and deliver accurate insights while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Developing skills applicable to the intermediate usage of databases, including SQL programming language, data validation, and data analysis.
  • Actively listen with strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to operate standard office computer systems, including advanced usage of Excel.
  • Must possess the ability to work well with others, including collaboration within and across teams.

The salary range for this position is $99,000.00 - $150,000.00
Starting salary and level of position will depend on level of experience and actuarial exam progress
This position is not eligible for tips or commission but may be eligible for additional bonuses
Fully remote work involves important payroll and legal considerations for the company. IMT has identified eligible states of residence for continued employment with IMT. Eligible states include: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
