Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fixed Income Sales Executive Director position is responsible for driving strategic growth, managing high-value institutional relationships, and leading complex fixed income transactions. This role sets the vision for regional and national sales initiatives, partners with senior leadership on business development strategies, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. The Executive Director serves as a trusted advisor to institutional clients, mentors senior sales professionals, and represents Fifth Third as a thought leader in the marketplace.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities for this role are below; you may support projects of varying complexity based on skill and organizational priorities.

Client Relationship Management
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with top-tier institutional clients, serving as a primary advisor on fixed income strategies.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share and achieve revenue goals.
  • Deliver tailored market updates, trade ideas, and strategic recommendations to senior-level decision-makers.
Sales Leadership & Strategic Growth
  • Lead regional and national sales campaigns to drive profitability and client engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set annual objectives and monitor progress toward performance targets.
  • Represent Fifth Third at industry conferences, trade shows, and client forums to enhance brand visibility.
Market Analysis & Advisory Services
  • Apply advanced knowledge of economics, fixed income markets, and capital markets to inform client strategies.
  • Provide market feedback to traders and underwriters to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies.
  • Stay current on new products, industry trends, and regulatory developments impacting institutional sales.
Transaction Oversight & Operational Excellence
  • Oversee the structuring and execution of complex fixed income transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain CRM systems (e.g., IRIS, FI Client Portal) for client data integrity and sales reporting.
  • Develop strong working relationships with back-office teams to ensure seamless operational support.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Provide timely, candid, and constructive feedback to team members.
  • Mentor senior sales professionals and Associates, fostering technical development and career growth.
  • Build a strong talent pipeline to ensure bench strength and succession planning.
  • Recognize and reward employees for outstanding performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in institutional sales, fixed income, or capital markets.
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, and Series 63 licenses required; Series 24 strongly preferred for supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of leading complex transactions and managing senior-level client relationships.
REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Advanced understanding of fixed income markets, products, and transaction structures.
  • Strong business development and strategic advisory skills.
