Job description

General Claims Associate (Student Worker)

We are seeking a detailed-oriented and customer-focused part-time General Claims Associate (Student Worker) to join our First Notice of Loss (FNOL) department in our West Trenton office. This role serves as the first point of contact for policyholders, claimants or other parties reporting claims.

As part of our FNOL team, you will be responsible for addressing customer inquiries concerning the claim process and collecting essential details about the incident, to accurately and efficiently establish new Auto, Property and Commercial claims.

This is a year-round, part-time position for students actively enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program. Work hours are designed to flex around academic obligations. The average hours for the position are approximately 15-20 hours per week and can be scheduled anytime during the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive initial reports of loss or damage from policyholders, claimants or other parties.
  • Accurately process information into the system for assignment to an adjuster.
  • Address customers' questions and concerns related to the claims process and procedures and offer clear instructions on the next steps.
  • Determine appropriate coverage and complete necessary follow-ups in a timely manner.
  • Navigate systems with proficiency to access appropriate information to service callers.
  • Perform additional duties within the department, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and demonstrate empathy during what may be a stressful time
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to navigate multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Commutable to our West Trenton, New Jersey office

Pay rate: $21- $22 /hour

Starting Rate: $21
