Job description

Vedder is searching for two Information Governance System Analysts to sit on our Chicago or New York office. The Information Governance Systems Analyst supports the administration and maintenance of information governance systems, with a focus on data integrity, data processing, and operational support of enterprise platforms. This role assists in the organization, classification, validation, and movement of legal data within systems such as iManage and related platforms. The position also supports data warehouse development, reporting capabilities, and system integrations that enable deeper insight into legal matter data.

As the Information Governance System Analyst, your job duties will include but not be limited to:

Data Governance & Operations

  • Collect, process, and organize data from multiple sources to support matter-centric data management
  • Classify, normalize, and prepare data for appropriate disposition (e.g., archive, retain, or move based on matter status)
  • Support the identification and remediation of inconsistent, duplicate, or improperly structured data
  • Execute data cleanup and reorganization efforts across legacy and active data repositories
  • Perform data quality checks on incoming and outgoing datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Assist in evaluating external data deliveries to confirm file integrity and completeness against accompanying indexes or documentation

iManage System Support & Data Integrity

  • Monitor and support the integrity of iManage workspaces, including naming conventions, metadata values, and structural consistency
  • Perform quality control checks to identify and remediate data issues such as duplicates, invalid metadata, and formatting inconsistencies
  • Assist with the execution of data imports into iManage using customized scripts and established processes
  • Support the validation of imported data to ensure accuracy and completeness following ingestion
  • Assist in ongoing system maintenance efforts to ensure reliable and high-quality data within the platform

Application Administration & Configuration

  • Support the administration and configuration of core information governance applications, including but not limited to iManage, Security Policy Manager, iManage Records Manager, and iManage Threat Manager

Data Processing, Scripting & Reporting

  • Execute data import, export, and transformation processes using SQL Server, Excel, and scripting tools
  • Develop and maintain SQL- and Python-based scripts to support data processing and internal workflows
  • Support the use of REST APIs to retrieve data from cloud-based systems and integrate it into internal data structures
  • Assist in maintaining internal data warehouses that enable complex reporting and analysis not available within source systems
  • Ensure scheduled or recurring data processes complete successfully and review outputs for accuracy
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports related to system usage, user activity, and data integrity

Systems Integration & Technical Support

  • Support the configuration and maintenance of integrations between iManage, Active Directory, and other enterprise systems
  • Assist with identity provisioning and group management processes, including validation of group mappings and attributes
  • Troubleshoot issues related to integrations, data synchronization, and system interoperability
  • Assist in resolving issues related to data pipelines, API connections, and system interactions
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to support technical issue resolution and system updates

Data Modeling & Analytical Support

  • Assist in developing and maintaining data models that provide insight into the scope, extent, and digital presence of legal matters
  • Support efforts to structure and analyze data in a way that enhances understanding of matter-related activity and data distribution

Operational Support & Automation

  • Assist team members with complex administrative and technical tasks through data processing, scripting, and system support
  • Develop or modify scripts to automate repetitive or resource-intensive processes
  • Provide technical support and guidance to non-technical team members on data-related tasks and system capabilities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with other departments, including Information Technology, eDiscovery, Business Intelligence, and Knowledge Management, to support Information Governance objectives
  • Provide limited technical assistance to other departments for tasks related to data processing, system workflows, or data validation

Project Support

  • Participate in departmental projects related to system enhancements, migrations, and process improvements
  • Support requests from internal stakeholders related to data movement, reporting, and system functionality
  • Assist in evaluating tools, integrations, or workflows to improve operational efficiency

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and resolving data quality issues
  • Attention to detail with the ability to evaluate large data sets for accuracy and consistency
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across operational and project-based work
  • Sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information

Qualifications & Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Information Governance, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience supporting document management systems (preferably iManage or similar platforms)
  • Experience working with structured data, databases, and data governance processes
  • Experience supporting system integrations or working with data from multiple enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with eDiscovery protocols and tools such as Relativity or Everlaw preferred

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL Server for data processing and reporting
  • Working knowledge of Python or similar scripting tools used in data workflows
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and retrieving data from cloud-based systems
  • General familiarity with enterprise systems such as document management platforms and directory services

Compensation Range: $75,000/yr. to $95,000/yr.
