We are seeking an experienced Data/Information Architect to provide data architecture for Ford Motor Company's Industrial Systems (IS) Data Strategy.

As a Data/Information Architect, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing a robust and scalable data strategy based on data-centric principles. You will also guide the implementation of the IS data Platform. You will collaborate with stakeholders and product teams to define data domains, onboard source systems, create data models, ensure data quality, map source to domain, assist in creating contracts, and provide architectural guidance for the implementation of the IS data platform. You will also maintain changes to the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and IS Conceptual Data Model. The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of data architecture principles, practical data modeling experience, and a solid grasp of data-centric architecture.
 

Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week 

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Programming or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 8+ years overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or advanced Database Design/Modeling experience in designing or implementing OLTP/RDBMS databases, Data Warehouse, Data Marts.  Additional Data Architecture/Design skills may include:
    • Knowledge of Master Data Management concepts and tools
    • Functional and Architecture Experience with one or more PLM platforms (e.g., Siemens' Teamcenter, Dassault's 3D Experience)
    • Knowledge of TOGAF, DAMA Architecture Framework and Standards
    • Ability to define data architecture principles, guidelines and standards
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience creating data models using data modeling tools (e.g. Power Designer)
  • 2+ years of experience in GCP technologies including Big Query, Alloy DB, PostgreSQL, Cloud Run, Mongo DB, Data Flow.  Similar cloud experience may be acceptable.

  • Experience influencing/ guiding product teams in data analytics.
  • Experience in defining and implementing data quality initiatives.

This position is a salary grade of 7 or 8 and ranges from $86,600- 166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

What you'll do...

  • Design and develop information data models including EDM, Conceptual, logical and physical data models for Industrial Systems. Manage and maintain the models in a Power Designer repository. 
  • Map Application to Conceptual Data Model, Business Process and Business Capability
  • Support product team's intake process, understanding business requirements, translating them into people, process, data and system requirements, applying data architectural principles, and providing expert guidance.
  • Lead the discovery and analysis phase of Industrial Systems Data Platform, ensure a deep understanding of our data landscape and facilitate integration of diverse sources into a unified data model
  • Provide data analytics guidance to product teams.
  • Lead conceptual discussions to understand the organization's data landscape. Identify and evaluate candidate data sources, maintain data models and data dictionaries for all identified source systems. Develop and define Canonical Domain Models 
  • Profile source system data, define comprehensive data quality requirements, identify data quality dimensions and metrics. Provide guidance on data quality monitoring, measuring, reporting and addressing issues.
  • Establish data architecture principles, data standards, best practices, and guidelines for the design of the data platform including data catalog, data lineage, observability, security and interoperability
  • Perform proof of concepts and guide Product team members to design and develop using different GCP data engineering technologies and tools.
