PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Coordinator, Industrial Development supports the administration of customer track agreements and industrial development projects. The primary focus is managing agreements to mitigate risk and protect CPKC's liability while enabling operational and commercial benefits. The secondary focus is supporting cross-functional coordination to ensure due diligence throughout project planning and execution.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of customer track agreements, including drafting, negotiation, execution, administration, compliance, and enforcement
  • Perform day-to-day administration of agreements, ensuring timely responses to stakeholders while protecting CPKC from risk, particularly related to information disclosure
  • Maintain and monitor existing agreements, including renewals, expiries, and associated receivables; ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation and records
  • Identify and address risks, gaps, or compliance issues within agreements and recommend appropriate actions
  • Support Industrial Development projects by coordinating with cross-functional teams to define scope, schedule, and cost parameters
  • Assist in ensuring projects are delivered in alignment with established success criteria across multiple stakeholders and governing groups
  • Contribute to due diligence processes during both planning and execution phases of project lifecycles

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Post-secondary education in business, project management, or construction considered a strong asset
  • Experience in transportation, engineering, project management, construction, or CPKC business or railway operations considered a strong asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Ability to interpret and understand legal agreement language with subject matter expert's support

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
