Job Description

The Line Manager - Imports responsibility is to meet or exceed the targets set by area leadership in line with MSC Canada’s growth expectations. The Import Line Manager must establish a firm understanding of the local Canadian import market including but not limited to the customer base, vendors, competition, and geographic opportunities/challenges. Moreover, they are responsible for analysing market trends, formulating a plan of action for both short and long term and setting in motion a time bound commercial strategy for their assigned Trade(s).

Level of Responsibility

Enhanced task complexity and accountability to customer. Works independently with general supervision, contributing significantly to team/organizational objectives. Accountable for accuracy and efficiency in assigned tasks. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Key Tasks

  • Review/Analyze the local Canadian market pertaining to volumes and revenues of designated trade areas.
  • Build collaborative partnerships and maintain commercial dialogue with new and existing customers, principles in Geneva, MSC origin offices, vendors and partners.
  • Build and/or enhance the skillset of our Import Commercial Management team to the needs of our business, including outstanding customer service and accountability.
  • Ensuring MSC Canada volumes are maintained and growing as per our local strategy and the analysis above.
  • Represent and speak on behalf of MSC Canada with Relevant stake holders Perform any and all related tasks determined by management to meet business and service needs.
Qualifications

Skills / Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a related role
  • Bachelors’ degree in a business-related field.
  • Excellent ability to analyze and problem solve using creative out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Strong leadership skills, particularily influence, accountability and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Previous exposure to commercial sales, an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Pivots, Power Point, Word.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written. Spanish fluency, an asset.
  • Attention to detail with excellent time management skills, particularly under pressure.
