Job description

The Opportunity
At Potomac, we're not for everyone-and that's by design. We attract people who think critically, communicate clearly, and execute with urgency. People who care deeply about their work and don't need handholding to make things happen.
We're a boutique tactical asset manager with a differentiated product that serves the independent broker-dealer and RIA channel
Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, we combine institutional-grade investment expertise with a quantitative process that is Built to Conquer Risk®.
Summary
We're looking for a Project Manager who is a strategic leader and brings value through strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate takes pride in executing projects and building scalable systems for our rapidly growing asset management firm. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of our project management operations, overseeing company-wide initiatives, and leading cross-departmental workflows that impact all areas of the firm. If you are intellectually curious, appreciate transparency, prefer simplicity, respond swiftly, deliver results, and pay close attention to detail, you will excel in this environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Lead and manage company-wide projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and deliverables with accuracy, urgency, and transparency.
  • Oversee project management tools and systems, ensuring optimal workflow design, reporting, and ongoing optimization.
  • Conduct firmwide project audits and proactively identify improvements that simplify processes without sacrificing detail.
  • Establish and enforce project SLAs that reflect our commitment to responsiveness and excellence.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
  • Act as the escalation point for complex project issues, resolving them with speed, clarity, and ownership.
  • Ensure all project data and documentation are accurate, consistent, and maintained with rigorous attention to detail.
  • Build transparent, high-functioning relationships with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.

Cross-Functional Engagement
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and other departments to support segmentation, data accuracy, and operational components of company initiatives.
  • Support cross-departmental communications and events, ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Serve as a liaison for conferences, platform activities, and engagement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Engagement
  • Identify workflow gaps and implement solutions that reduce friction and enhance scalability.
  • Create SOPs, training materials, and project playbooks that reflect a culture of clarity and transparency.
  • Crosstrain staff to ensure project redundancy and provide team coverage.
  • Lead special projects including system upgrades, new technology integrations, and automation initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including leadership or elevated responsibility.
  • Expert-level proficiency with project management platforms (e.g., Asana, Teamwork, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with urgency, simplify complex workflows, and maintain elite attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward taking action and getting things done.
  • Exceptional follow-through, communication, and accountability skills.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at Potomac's Bethesda, MD Headquarters.

Preferred
  • PMP or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot CRM or similar).
  • Cross-department collaboration experience.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience within a project management function.

Potomac is not your typical asset manager. We cut through the industry BS with brutal transparency and an obsession with execution. If you're looking for a slow pace and low volume, this isn't for you.
If you want to drive, build, and scale, this is your shot.
