Position Overview

Environmental Managers at Kiewit play a pivotal role in ensuring that our projects adhere to the highest environmental standards and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about sustainable practices and environmental stewardship to contribute to cutting-edge construction projects. Environmental Managers oversee permitting, compliance, reporting, and external relations with our client and the community. Experience managing complex environmental requirements for infrastructure construction is required, including in-water and above-water construction, storm water management, and waste management. 

Location and Project Overview

This position will support the construction of the I-10 Mobile River Bridge project being constructed in Mobile, Alabama. Relocation to Mobile will be required, and relocation assistance can be provided to the right candidate. Kiewit's Bridge & Marine District operates with heavy civil, marine, and industrial capabilities across North America. Responsibilities
  • Implement programs and procedures to assure the compliance of the company's domestic construction site with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Supervise job environmental process and address any potential violations and concerns.
  • Implement programs, procedures, and policies to assure proper environmental monitoring and management.
  • Assist engineering and operations management in planning for compliance of new and modified processes and operations with environmental regulations.
  • Oversee permit applications and application renewal in compliance with environmental regulations; assist supervisors, managers, and others in obtaining and maintaining environmental permits.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of permits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Participate in environmental issue investigations, overseeing reporting and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement environmental training programs.
  • Implement community right-to-know programs relative to the project's compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • This position will oversee a team of environmental compliance specialists. 
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in environmental compliance, working knowledge of environmental codes and standards
  • Significant demonstrated experience related to the areas of responsibility for environmental compliance for major transportation construction projects or similar is a plus but not necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, biology, or related field.
  • Must have CPESC Certification. 
  • ISO 14000 certifications is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel).
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and highly motivated.
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be team player but able to work independently to meet intense deadlines, goals, and objectives.  #LI-RP1
