Froedtert ThedaCare North Region, is a rapidly growing heath system providing trauma care across the spectrum of rural and urban settings throughout North-Eastern Wisconsin. The Froedtert ThedaCare North Region consists of 11 hospitals & CAHS. These range from trauma undesignated critical access hospitals, state designated level 3-4 centers, and an ACS verified Level II trauma center located in Neenah, WI. The North Region is aligned with the ACS verified Level I center at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI and it is a national leader in trauma care and research.
Under the general oversight of the VP of Graduate Medical Education & Clinical Research and the Medical Director of Clinical Research, the Director of Research Infrastructure and Implementation is the key strategist who provides the strategic direction and operational leadership in the development of multi-institutional trauma research program across the enterprise. They must possess a proven history of successful leadership and national influence to design, direct, and operationalize research infrastructure at scale to ensure enterprise-wide alignment, growth, and fiscal stewardship as the strategic priority initiative leader over of trauma research operations.
SPAN OF CONTROL: Reporting to the Medical Director of Clinical Research, the Director of Research and Integration is responsible for establishing governance frameworks, performance standards, strategic direction, and scale of trauma research infrastructure across the Froedtert ThedaCare North Region. As an executive facing role in partnering with senior leadership, they create a competitive advantage through nationally recognized research programs, drive revenue generating research initiatives and demonstrate return on investment through funding acquisition and system efficiencies.
Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Partners with senior leadership to build, scale, and operationalize research infrastructure at the enterprise level by serving as the strategic priority initiative owner of multidisciplinary trauma research team development, labor management, and overall operational administration of trauma research in the ThedaCare North Region.
  • Develops and directs workforce capability in trauma research and implementation science, ensuring the research infrastructure is optimized on performance, staffing, reliability, and cost.
  • Governs national trauma research visibility and national partnerships contributing to institutional reputation
  • Directs system-level, evidence based rural and urban triage teams focused on rapid-cycle outcomes and translation research in alignment with American College of Surgeons (ACS) verification and quality standards
  • Advances institutional positioning for ACS verification and national benchmarking by serving as the subject matter expert with national influence
  • Responsible for external funding strategy, grant portfolio development, and fiscal stewardship for trauma research funding streams
  • Responsible for mentoring and growing other research activities through the Clinical Research Office in the support of GME Resident, Nursing programs, and other higher-learners. Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION
Minimum Required:
  • A Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD) in a related field, with at least eight years of postdoctoral trauma experience and be recognized as an expert in the field of trauma research, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Additional:
  • Knowledge of aspects of finance, human resources and background in healthcare or emergency services a plus.

  • Dependent on Degree

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
  • Candidates must have a robust publication record demonstrating national scholarly contributions across the trauma landscape.
