SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting United Way?s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and volunteer engagement efforts by coordinating meaningful volunteer experiences that strengthen community impact and deepen partner engagement.

This role is responsible for executing volunteer opportunities, corporate engagement activities, community events, and kit build experiences that align with United Way?s mission and impact priorities. Reporting to the Associate Director of Community Engagement, the Volunteer Coordinator provides input into volunteer engagement strategies and ensures a positive, organized, and mission-driven experience for volunteers, nonprofit partners, and corporate stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Volunteer Engagement & Program Execution:
  • Executes volunteer engagement opportunities that support United Way?s mission and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives
  • Coordinates volunteer experiences for corporate groups, community partners, and individual volunteers
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for volunteer groups, providing planning support, scheduling, communication, and post-event follow-up
  • Supports the execution of volunteer activities that create meaningful community impact and strengthen partner relationships

Corporate & Community Volunteer Coordination:

  • Assists the Associate Director of Community Engagement in planning and executing volunteer opportunities aligned with corporate engagement goals
  • Works with nonprofit partner agencies to identify volunteer opportunities aligned with community needs and United Way priorities
  • Collaborates with Corporate Giving, Community Impact, and Marketing & Communications teams to integrate volunteerism into broader engagement strategies
  • Provides excellent customer service to volunteers, corporate partners, and community organizations

Kit Builds & Event Support:

  • With direction from the Associate Director of Community Engagement; plans, organizes, and facilitates volunteer kit build projects for corporate and community partners
  • Manages event logistics including inventory, supplies, setup, volunteer instructions, and quality control
  • Supports United Way presence at employee fairs, volunteer expos, community events, and engagement activities
  • Recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers for events and community activities
  • Maintains event materials, signage, and branded collateral

Volunteer Communications & Stewardship:

  • Maintains regular communication with volunteers and agency partners to ensure successful volunteer placements and experiences
  • Tracks volunteer participation, engagement outcomes, and program feedback
  • Provides content and updates to Marketing & Communications for volunteer-related social media, website, and promotional materials
  • Supports stewardship efforts that encourage continued volunteer engagement and long-term community involvement

Data, Systems & Reporting:

  • Maintains accurate volunteer records, schedules, waivers, and hour tracking within organizational systems
  • Assists with reporting on volunteer participation, impact metrics, and engagement outcomes
  • Supports ongoing evaluation of volunteer satisfaction and program effectiveness
  • Ensures data integrity and organized record management

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Supports Donor Stewardship Coordinator in planning and executing Leadership Giving Network Events when needed.
  • Works collaboratively across departments to support coordinated community engagement efforts
  • Supports implementation of volunteer best practices that create safe, inclusive, and welcoming experiences
  • Assists nonprofit agencies and volunteers during volunteer events and activities as needed

Organizational Leadership:

  • Consistently demonstrates the mission and values of United Way
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2?4 years of experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, customer engagement, administrative support, or related field
  • Experience working with volunteer management systems, CRM platforms, or community engagement programs preferred

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Community Engagement

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: May supervise interns, volunteers, or temporary staff

TRAVEL: Local travel may be required

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $29.74 - $33.33 per hour
