Job Description
Works within the Disabilities and Mental Health team in a collaborative team approach, serving as the content area expert to assist the Disabilities and Mental Health Manager and the Education and Child Development Director in planning, implementing, coordinating and monitoring services for children with special needs and/or behavioral concerns, per Head Start Performance Standards, the agency's policies and procedures and in support of the agency school readiness plan. Coordinates the functional assessments of behavior (FBA) and the development of Behavior Intervention Plans which address students' inappropriate behaviors and to provide a means to help children become more academically successful. The Disabilities and Behavioral Specialist also provides classroom and agency-wide behavior management strategies. Position uses independent judgment to support overall school readiness for all Head Start children, as needed.
Position is 234 working days and 12 paid Holidays; a typical work week is Monday - Friday with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.
Position offers full benefits, including: Health, Dental, Life, HSA Contributions, 401K, and EAP counseling.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university with a major in Behavioral Sciences, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education or a closely related field as determined by the agency, PLUS experience working with children, preferably 3-5 years of age

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in one of the areas above.
  • Hold a special education license or endorsement or one of the following professional licenses: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
  • Prior Head Start Experience
  • Proficient in ChildPlus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
