Keep ice skating safe and fun! Join Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation as an Ice Guard.

City of Fort Wayne – Parks & Recreation Department

Position: Headwaters Ice Rink Ice Guard

Schedule: Flexible hours depending on programs, lessons, and special events

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

What You'll Do:

  • Monitor ice activities and ensure safety during public sessions, lessons, hockey games, and events
  • Respond calmly and effectively to medical emergencies
  • Open, close, and secure the facility
  • Distribute and collect rental skates
  • Handle incidents, report disciplinary issues, and assist guests professionally
  • Support private/group rentals and special events
  • Assist with concessions, light cleaning, and inventory management
  • Enforce facility rules and Parks & Recreation policies
  • Communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, and the public
  • Train and supervise volunteers as needed
  • Collect user fees and maintain accurate records

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • One to three months related experience or equivalent
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • First Aid and CPR certification within two weeks of hire
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License if operating a City vehicle
  • Ice skating experience recommended
