Job description

Position Description
The role supports the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the service offerings in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) space, helping ensure they remain secure, reliable, and aligned with university and regulatory policies. The individual collaborates with business stakeholders, users, vendors, and technical teams to understand business priorities and user needs, translate them into clear functional specifications, and iteratively deliver maintainable solutions. This position contributes to product roadmaps, testing, documentation, and training and provides hands-on product support to help resolve incidents and requests within defined SLAs. The role also identifies opportunities for process and system improvements and stays current on industry trends, product roadmaps, and future functionality.

This position is part of the centralized Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) IAM team and will report to the IAM Associate Director, who is the service owner for the Identity Data service.

This particular position will backfill the current permanent team member while they lead a one-year project. The assignment is expected to be approximately 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support product management and the product development lifecycle, including requirements elicitation and analysis, writing Jira work items (stories, bugs, etc), coordinating development and testing with engineers and quality assurance, and coordinating user acceptance testing of completed work, as relevant.
  • Participate in the change management process by drafting and submitting change requests, including describing the business justification and impact assessment, and working with the change advisory board to facilitate change request approval.
  • Coordinate the release process by scheduling releases, ensuring engineers complete the release playbook, running go-no-go meetings, updating change requests with release outcomes, etc.
  • Prepare slide decks to update stakeholder groups on IAM initiatives.
  • Support the migration, consolidation, and rearchitecture of internal IAM documentation involving Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, Confluence, etc.
  • Complete access audits for IAM applications.
  • Other general business analysis work across all IAM areas.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years'' post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
