POSITION TITLE: Identity and Access Management Intern

ROLE SUMMARY

The Identity and Access Management Intern supports the daily operations of LMCU's Identity and Access Management team by assisting with user provisioning, access request fulfillment, documentation, and process improvement initiatives. This role provides hands-on exposure to enterprise IAM tools and frameworks, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and ServiceNow. Working under the guidance of experienced IAM analysts and engineers, the intern will contribute to real-world projects that strengthen access controls, support compliance efforts, and improve the employee access experience across the organization.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with user provisioning, deprovisioning, and access modifications across enterprise systems in accordance with security policies and service level agreements

  • Support joiner, mover, and leaver (JML) processes by helping verify and fulfill access requests through ServiceNow and related workflows

  • Help maintain and update IAM documentation, including standard operating procedures, process guides, and knowledge base articles

  • Assist with access review and certification campaigns to validate user entitlements and identify potential policy violations

  • Support the IAM team in documenting current-state and future-state identity processes, workflows, and integration patterns

  • Contribute to automation efforts and process improvement initiatives that enhance IAM program maturity and operational efficiency

  • Participate in meetings with IAM engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to capture notes and translate discussions into structured documentation

  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and resolution of access-related issues, escalating complex matters to senior team members

  • Adhere to and champion our core values of curious minds, collaborative hearts, and continuous excellence

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Basic understanding of identity and access management concepts, including user provisioning, authentication, and access control principles

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), or similar directory services is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document processes clearly

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-motivated and eager to learn about IAM technologies, cybersecurity practices, and compliance standards

EXPERIENCE

  • No prior professional experience required; relevant coursework, personal projects, or prior internship experience in IT, cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred

  • Interest in pursuing a career in information security, identity management, or IT operations

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • College student at freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or master level status, or a recent college graduate within the last 3 months

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 3.0 GPA or greater preferred

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, SC-900, or similar are a plus but not required

OTHER SKILLS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is a plus

  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell) is beneficial but not required

  • Ability to function independently as well as actively participate in a team environment

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

ADA Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
