Recruitment Information Recruitment Number OHHI-26023 This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai'i. Shiftwork: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Level I: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11, Step C to I) Level II: $3,900 to $4,933 per month (SR-13, Step C to I) Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary Positions in this occupational field are engaged in providing animal health services for the State with the mission of reducing incidence of prevalent zoonoses and other animal plagues of economic importance to the animal industry, and specifically to prevent the introduction of animal diseases which are transmissible to animals and man by conducting disease surveillance and investigations, inspecting animal production operations, inspecting imported animals at the port of entry, and to provide a quarantine service. LEVEL I - As a trainee, positions at this level will receive on-the-job instruction in the work processes, techniques and skills pertinent to the animal quarantine and inspection program of the State and will participate in routine inspectional and enforcement activities, livestock disease control field projects, etc., relating to the livestock inspection program; and perform other related duties as assigned. LEVEL II - Positions at this level conduct inspections of animals imported into the State at ports of entry for compliance with state laws, rules and regulations; and perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified. Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Experience: For both the Level I and Level II, Applicants must possess at least ONE (1) YEAR of experience which demonstrated the ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, and write simply and directly.

*Graduation from High school or equivalent, may be substituted for the Basic Experience requirement. General Experience: For both the Level I and Level II, Applicants must possess at least ONE (1) YEAR of WORK EXPERIENCE in the care and handling of large and small animals. Specialized Experience: LEVEL I - requires NO Experience.

LEVEL II - ONE (1) YEAR of experience in livestock inspection, quarantine and testing for disease; and the enforcement of livestock disease control rules and regulations. Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment. Lifting and Carrying: All positions require the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted; and objects weighing over 40 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck), with or without reasonable accommodation
