Job description

As a Water Right Engineer at Moore Engineering, you are responsible for planning, designing, and managing infrastructure systems related to the safe and efficient distribution and treatment of water.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and analyze Colorado Water Court decrees
  • Estimate historical crop consumptive use
  • Estimate lagged depletions and accretions to river systems
  • Estimate in-priority water for surface or groundwater diversions, stream basin hydrologic analyses, and occasional fieldwork related to streamflow measurements
  • Evaluate diversion sites
  • Evaluate reservoir sites
  • Provide deep-well drilling observation
  • Collect generalized field data
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, hydrology, or geology (Engineering preferred)
  • 3-5 years' experience in water rights consulting
  • In depth KNOWLEDGE OF COLORADO WATER LAW
  • Experience supporting water lawyers in Colorado Water Court proceedings
  • Fieldwork experience in streamflow measurement and drilling observation
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and database applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Suites
  • Municipal deep well drilling observation preferred
  • Datalogger and transducer programming and deployment preferred
  • MODFLOW modeling preferred

The job is primarily in the office with occasional work out in the field, primarily in the State of Colorado. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or walk on uneven surfaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

For Colorado residents: The pay range for this position is $78,240-$107,520 (with flexibility DOQ). The range displayed on this job posting reflects salaries for the position based in our Colorado locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by specific work location and additional factors, including education, experience, credentials, and job-related skills. In addition to base pay, certain positions at Moore Holding Company and subsidiaries are eligible for participation in our incentive compensation programs.
