About the Role
Managed Medical Review Organization (MMRO) is looking for a part-time Human Resources Specialist to own the day-to-day HR operations that keep our company running well. This role covers payroll administration, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, and compliance support, and serves as the first point of contact for employee HR questions. You will also play a visible part in company culture, training, and engagement, and provide administrative support to leadership on cross-departmental projects.
We work in a HIPAA-regulated environment, so professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality matter in every interaction.
What You'll Do

โ€ข Post openings, source and screen applicants, conduct initial phone screens, and coordinate interview scheduling with hiring teams.
โ€ข Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting, and license verification.
โ€ข Complete new hire onboarding in the HRIS, including documentation, confidentiality agreements, and benefit enrollment.
โ€ข Verify I-9s per federal requirements using e-Verify, and assign and track new hire training.
Benefits and Payroll Support
โ€ข Administer benefit enrollments for new hires and during open enrollment, and process qualifying life event changes.
โ€ข Reconcile monthly benefit invoices against enrollment records and resolve discrepancies with carriers and brokers.
โ€ข Support 401(k) administration, including enrollments, contribution changes, annual notices, and census reporting.
โ€ข Track PTO and sick time balances and answer employee questions about accruals and usage.
โ€ข Verify and process payroll.
HR Compliance and Records
โ€ข Maintain accurate, complete, audit-ready employee records from hire through termination.
โ€ข Perform monthly federal exclusion checks for all staff and maintain tracking documentation.
โ€ข Keep HRIS data, job records, and reporting structures current.
โ€ข Support updates to HR policies, the company handbook, SOPs, and job descriptions.
โ€ข Coordinate offboarding logistics and prepare preliminary documentation for employment-related legal matters for review by General Counsel.
Culture, Training, and Engagement
โ€ข Administer the corporate training program, including attestation tracking and quality control reporting.
โ€ข Manage the employee recognition platform and coordinate employee surveys.
โ€ข Support culture initiatives, celebrations, and internal communications, and help plan company events.
Administrative Support
โ€ข Provide administrative support to leadership, including document creation, quality review, and travel arrangements.
โ€ข Assist with vendor research, office supply ordering, and general office coordination.
What We're Looking For
โ€ข 3+ years of human resources, benefits administration, or closely related experience.
โ€ข Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
โ€ข Working knowledge of HR practices and basic employment regulations (FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA).
โ€ข Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
โ€ข Sound judgment and absolute discretion with confidential employee and company information.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly, professional presence.
โ€ข A proactive problem solver who can work independently and follow through.
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
โ€ข Experience with an HRIS platform (BambooHR strongly preferred) or applicant tracking tools.
โ€ข SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification, or willingness to pursue one.
