Job description

HR Assistant

Part-Time | On-Site | Bronx, NY

Compensation: $22.00 โ€“ $29.00/hr, negotiable based on experience

Location: Bronx, NY (On-Site)

Employment Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Monday โ€“ Friday, 10:00 AM โ€“ 3:00 PM (~25 hrs/week; hours may be extended based on department needs)

Role Overview

Our client is a large, well-established residential cooperative community in the Bronx, NY โ€” one of the largest planned residential communities on the East Coast. Serving thousands of residents, they operate a full HR department and are looking to add a part-time HR Assistant to keep things running smoothly day to day.

You'll be the first face people see when they walk into the HR office. Beyond that, you'll support the team with records management, correspondence, department projects, and general office operations. It's a structured, professional environment with consistent hours and real HR exposure โ€” a strong fit if you're building your HR career or returning to the workforce.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the HR department โ€” greet visitors, field employee inquiries, and direct requests to the appropriate staff
  • Maintain and organize electronic and hard-copy employee records; perform data entry and ensure documentation is accurate, secure, and up to date
  • Support HR staff on department projects including new employee orientation, onboarding, benefits seminars, and training sessions
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence via email, interoffice mail, certified mail, and overnight delivery
  • Perform general office functions including photocopying, faxing, answering phones, and other clerical tasks as needed
  • Ensure HR department forms are stocked and available โ€” applications, medical forms, candidate packets, and more
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is a plus
  • At least 1 year of experience in a corporate office environment, preferably in HR, administration, or office support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of HR procedures, HCM systems, or labor law basics is a plus; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
Why Apply for This Position?

This is a part-time role with real HR exposure at one of the most established community organizations in New York City. You'll work in a professional, supportive environment with a predictable Mondayโ€“Friday schedule โ€” no evenings, no weekends. Our client is a longstanding institution with a dedicated HR team and a culture that takes care of its people. If you're looking to build experience or re-enter HR in a stable, community-rooted setting, this is worth a conversation.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Our client is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
