Role Purpose Statement
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function by administering and coordinating a broad range of HR programs and services. Responsibilities include onboarding, employee relations, leave of absence administration, workers' compensation, benefits administration, compliance, workplace investigations, training and development, and HR/payroll support.
This position partners closely with leaders and employees at all levels to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. The Human Resources Generalist helps ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and regulatory requirements while providing guidance and support that promotes employee engagement, operational effectiveness, and organizational success.
Main Accountabilities
• Support the implementation of Human Resources (HR) policies and programs for union and non-union employees in SEA Customer Service Center (CSC)
• Administer and track employee leaves, including FMLA, PFML, workers compensation, ADA accommodations, and other company leave programs
• Complete and maintain I-9 documentation and employment eligibility verification
• Assist with workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, and other operational and employee relations matters
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Assist with payroll and timekeeping for union and non-union employees
• Assist with new employee onboarding, including system tasks, benefit, and new hire orientations to ensure a positive new hire experience
• Act as first line liaison with union or non-union employees, facilitating resolution of employee concerns
• Support auditing of clerical activities for accuracy and adherence to standards
• Attend unemployment hearings as needed
• Assist with miscellaneous HR functions as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience required
• Two to four years of HR experience
• Working knowledge of employment laws and practices, including FLSA, ADA, workers' compensation, FMLA, and HIPAA
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and issues
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, with the ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines
• Able to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization both oral and written
• Practical knowledge of federal and state employment laws and their applicability in the workplace
• Team-oriented individual with strong leadership ability
