The Company

At WTW, our advisors develop new solutions to help the aging global population achieve financial security in retirement. We invite you to join our Retirement consulting team, recognized for its ability to combine actuarial and investment expertise to support organizations around the world in optimizing the effectiveness of their employee retirement programs. Whether a client has a defined benefit pension or a defined contribution plan, we work with them to determine the right approach to designing, funding, investing, governing and employee management that fits their specific goals.

Our team also provides training to groups of pension plan participants on the importance of retirement planning, the key features of their plans, and the concept of financial independence.
The Role

As a consulting intern on the Retirement team, you will apply your communication, technical, and project management skills in various projects for different pension plans (registered and unregistered defined benefit pension plans and defined contribution pension plans). For example, during your internship, you may work on an actuarial valuation and be involved in investment and risk management projects. Teamwork is an integral part of the life here. You will participate on teams that aim to find and implement the best possible solutions for our clients.

In this role at WTW you will:

  • Serve as a key resource on client teams performing necessary calculations or actuarial analysis on a wide variety of retirement projects
  • Work in a dynamic and social environment by participating in daily meetings with colleagues from the Retirement team
  • Learn more about the day-to-day of a consultant by creating client presentations, assisting to the team preparation and potentially attending client meetings
  • Work with a variety of colleagues and clients gaining knowledge and exposure to different work styles
  • Learn about WTW career paths
  • Have robust learning and development opportunities including trainings, mentorship programs, and actuarial exam support
  • Build connection with colleagues through optional social activities

We trust our colleagues to work in a variety of settings. This role can be hybrid or onsite.

The Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math or statistics and have a strong academic record (cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or over)
  • Progress/interest towards actuarial credentials (ACIA, FCIA and/or ASA, FSA) preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
  • Aptitude to balance and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel

WTW serves a clientele with a national and international presence and must be able to offer services in French and English at all times. This position requires bilingualism, as the intern will need to provide services related to various communications exclusively in French or English, in addition to interacting with multiple stakeholders in Canada who speak only French or English.

For Universite de Montreal, UQAM and Universite Laval students, please note that we will only accept applications from August 26 to September 17, as determined in the "university recruitment for internships in actuarial science rules". For these three universities, please refer to your career services office for more information on how to apply for positions according to the posting dates.
