The Opportunity

As the Territory Manager for the Hudson Valley region, you will serve as MRS's primary representative across Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Columbia, Greene, and Westchester Counties.
This role combines account management, customer support, and business development. You'll be responsible for strengthening relationships with existing customers, delivering exceptional service, identifying opportunities for growth, and expanding MRS's presence throughout the territory.
Success in this role comes from being a trusted resource for customers, maintaining a strong market presence, and helping dealer partners succeed.
What You'll Do

Foster and Grow Existing Relationships

  • Serve as the primary support and field representative for existing dealer accounts throughout the territory.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, managers, purchasing teams, and sales personnel.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and responsive support.
  • Help customers identify opportunities to increase sales, improve product mix, and grow profitability.
  • Become a trusted advisor who helps dealers succeed in their local markets.
Drive Territory Growth

  • Sell MRS's full portfolio of premium specialty building products, including leading brands in decking, railing, siding, weatherization, millwork, and related categories.
  • Identify and develop new dealer relationships and distribution opportunities throughout the territory.
  • Utilize consultative selling, cross-selling strategies, and promotions to expand market share and dealer success.
Educate and Support Customers

  • Conduct product knowledge (PK) sessions, sales training programs, and product demonstrations.
  • Support dealer events, open houses, trade shows, and customer-facing promotions.
  • Provide product expertise and market insights that help customers stay competitive.
Own the Territory

  • Maintain a consistent field presence throughout the market (approximately four days in the field and one day remote).
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage customer activity, sales opportunities, and territory performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure outstanding customer experiences and support.
Represent the MRS Brand

  • Serve as the face of MRS throughout the Hudson Valley.
  • Conduct business with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-first mindset.
  • Uphold the company's longstanding reputation for service, partnership, and reliability.
What We're Looking For

Experience

  • 3+ years of successful outside sales, account management, territory management, or customer development experience.
  • Building materials, lumber, construction products, millwork, or related industry experience strongly preferred.
Local Market Knowledge

  • Must reside within the Hudson Valley territory.
  • Strong familiarity with independent lumberyards, specialty dealers, home centers, contractors, and building material markets throughout the region.
Skills

  • Outstanding relationship-building and customer service abilities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office.
Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the territory by car.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required but is limited.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions when necessary.
