Job description

Job Title: HR Generalist Location: White Plains, NY Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $60,000.00-$65,000.00/yr Work Model: Onsite Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST

Overview

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced Human Resources department. This role will focus on employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and HR process support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Human Resources department.
  • Recruit, interview, and support the hiring process for open positions in partnership with hiring managers.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Support HR programs related to compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation and exit procedures.
  • Conduct background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Monitor compliance with required training, certifications, and internal policies.
  • Process payroll-related functions and assist with HR reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and FLSA.
  • Support disciplinary actions, investigations, and employee relations matters.
  • Manage workers’ compensation, short-term disability, and long-term disability processes.
  • Handle wage garnishments, liens, and court-ordered wage assignments.
  • Coordinate employee separations, including COBRA notifications and exit interviews.
  • Prepare reports and assist with HR audits, compliance reviews, and special projects.
  • Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, talent acquisition, HRIS systems, and employment law compliance.
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, workers’ compensation, and leave administration.
  • Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems/software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility as needed.
