The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Analyst I position at the City of Tucson's Human Resources department maintains the integrity and reliability of the HRIS systems by providing functional and technical support in the areas of analysis, testing, report writing, and configuration maintenance.

Work is performed under the supervision of the HRIS Manager. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyzes current system functions to maximize value, efficiency, and to identify opportunities for improvement, customization, or training. Advises on system capabilities in collaboration with IT, department leadership, and other stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with HRIS staff, City-wide working groups, and consultants to research, plan, and modify HRIS configuration options. Tests new features and proposed changes prior to implementation and maintains documentation of system updates.

  • Performs regular and ad-hoc system audits, maintaining communication with HR teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of employee data. Assists in monitoring systems integrations to ensure successful transfer of employee data between Human Capital Management (HCM) and timekeeping systems.

  • Develops and provides user training materials and guides as required and may conduct presentations or individualized training.

  • Writes custom report definitions, runs standard and custom reports, and transforms report data for application in various projects and presentations.

  • Proactively researches solutions for current and future system issues and engages with community of HRIS users to establish network of resources and referrals. Stays up to date with HRIS trends, technological advances, and system releases. Understands business objectives as defined by HR staff and organizational leadership and translates objectives and user needs into technical requirements for HRIS configuration.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

Mostly office environment. May require flexibility of schedule and ability to work select evenings and weekends.
