The School Compliance & Board Operations Manager will support the compliance function across EMAN and the schools it partners with. This person will help manage compliance submissions, maintain reporting calendars, support board meeting operations, and assist with grant documentation and reporting.
This is a strong fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in school operations and compliance. Prior experience in education, charter schools, school operations, reporting, grants, or compliance is helpful, but exact charter compliance experience is not required.
About EMAN
Education Management & Networks, Inc. (EMAN) is an education management organization that partners with public charter schools across Southeast Michigan. Founded in 2003, EMAN supports a network of schools serving 3,000+ students and more than 250 employees. EMAN provides the operational, financial, academic, HR, compliance, and student support infrastructure that helps schools run well and serve families effectively. The organization has a stable foundation, a long operating history, and ambitious plans to continue growing.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance, Grants, and Reporting
  • Help prepare, track, and submit required documents and information to state, ISD, and authorizer entities
  • Maintain a clear compliance calendar to ensure deadlines are visible and met
  • Support grant applications, submissions, documentation, and reporting
  • Gather information from school leaders, central office teams, and other stakeholders
  • Review submissions for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Help improve recurring compliance processes, checklists, and documentation

Board Operations and Management
  • Support board meeting preparation for multiple school boards
  • Prepare agendas, board packets, public notices, minutes, attendance confirmations, and follow-up items
  • Coordinate with board members, school leaders, and internal teams to ensure meetings run smoothly
  • Attend evening board meetings as needed, typically 2 3 times per month

Reporting, Budgeting, and Finance Support
  • Support budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and recurring reports for leadership
  • Help translate accounting data into clear, useful information for the CFO and senior leaders
  • Provide accounting support for planning, forecasting, and financial decision-making
  • Strengthen accounting checklists, controls, documentation, and recurring workflows
  • Work closely with the CFO, President / COO, HR, operations, compliance, and school-level teams

What Success Looks Like
First 6 months. Compliance calendars are accurate, submissions are organized and on time, board packets are prepared cleanly, and recurring work is managed with increasing independence.
Over time. Becoming a trusted compliance and board operations lead, supporting multiple boards confidently, improving department processes, and growing toward a senior compliance leadership role.
Why This Role Is Compelling
This is a chance to join a stable, mission-driven education organization with a long operating history and ambitious plans for the future. The role reports to a highly respected compliance leader with 30+ years of experience and offers a path to grow into a senior compliance role as EMAN continues to expand.
