The HR Generalist partners closely with clinical and operational leadership to sustain a compliant, supportive, and mission-driven workplace serving children and families through applied behavior analysis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruiting for clinical and administrative roles (RBT, BCBA, BCaBA Trainee, Program Supervisor, Clinic/Office Manager, and support staff), including job posting, applicant tracking, and interview scheduling.
  • Conduct candidate screening, reference checks, and background/credential verification, including BACB and RBT certification status.
  • Manage new-hire onboarding: offer letters, I-9/E-Verify, new-hire paperwork, system access, and orientation to KEBM policies and clinical standards.
  • Maintain job descriptions, roles & responsibilities documents, and interview guides in partnership with clinical leadership.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Support investigations into employee relations matters (attendance, conduct, time-theft, performance) and document findings objectively.
  • Draft and administer performance documentation, corrective actions, separation agreements, and final wage resolutions in coordination with HR leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, California (e.g., paid sick leave, meal/rest breaks, AB 406, final pay rules), and Georgia employment regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive personnel information with discretion.

Leave, Accommodation & Workers' Compensation

  • Administer leaves of absence (FMLA/CFRA, PDL, ADA-related, personal, and state-specific leaves) including eligibility, notices, and tracking.
  • Facilitate the ADA/reasonable accommodation interactive process and maintain related documentation.
  • Support workers' compensation claims administration, including incident reporting, records requests, carrier coordination, and return-to-work tracking.
  • Monitor documentation gaps and follow up to keep active cases current and compliant.

  • Assist with payroll data preparation and worker classification accuracy in support of audits and reporting.

Audit & Reporting Support

  • Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory and payroll tax audits (e.g., EDD), including worker classification records.
  • Compile HR metrics and reports (headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, compliance status) for leadership review.
  • Support policy and handbook updates reflecting multi-state legal changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of HR generalist experience, ideally in healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-site environments.
  • Working knowledge of California and Georgia employment law and multi-state compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (BambooHR preferred) and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent cases and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; discretion with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification.
  • Familiarity with ABA/behavioral health operations, BACB/RBT credentialing, and clinical staffing.
  • Experience administering leaves, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation claims.

  • Adaptability in a growing, multi-site organization.
  • Commitment to KEBM's mission of supporting children and families through quality ABA services.
