Cooper People Group (CPG) is a woman-owned, fast-growing human resource (HR) advisory firm whose purpose is to enrich the world of work. We are a team of seasoned business executives and HR leaders who are passionate about helping small- to mid-sized organizations across the Great Lakes and beyond to develop their HR strategy, structure, people, and processes. CPG exists to lead and support organizations who have no HR, HR in transition, and HR with too much on their plate. The team at CPG believes that everyone deserves to do great work with great people in great companies. Our work is guided by our three core values: Humble Leaders, People First, In It Together, Masters of Our Craft.

Due to our continuous growth in having just retained our 250th client(!), we're expanding the team yet again and are seeking to add a full-time HR Assistant to our team.

What You'll Do

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented HR Assistant who is passionate about supporting our HR consulting team with delivering top-tier HR solutions to our clients. This is a full-time role that will be at least 32-35 hours per week with a main focus on assisting with various HR projects and tasks and ensuring the smooth and accurate execution of client engagements. This role will be involved in tasks that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supporting HR Consultants with client projects by assisting with research, data compilation, documentation, and HR task execution including firm and client branding of materials including documents, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • Facilitating client and statement of work onboarding by customizing templates, resources, and ensuring a seamless start for new engagements
  • Assisting HR Consultants with administrative tasks, scheduling, and project organization to keep client deliverables on track
  • Maintaining resources and templates by updating HR documents, policies, and best practice templates for efficient use
  • Managing client surveys by creating, deploying, sending reminders to recipients, sending status updates to consultants and clients, and closing surveys to support client projects.
  • Collaborating with other administrative team members as needed to streamline processes and provide operational support that enhances the efficiency of the HR consulting team

What You'll Bring

  • At least two (2) years of experience in an operations support or administrative support role, preferably an HR support role, such as HR Coordinator or HR Assistant, preferably in a small- to mid-sized company.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and support HR Consultants in delivering client projects
  • Familiarity with HR processes, systems, and best practices, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic consulting environment
  • Passion for supporting HR initiatives and helping businesses strengthen their people programs and outcomes
  • Top-notch time management, communication, and organization skills with a desire to be an amazing ambassador for the CPG brand.
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills, particularly in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • A proactive and resourceful mindset, always looking for ways to improve processes and support the HR consulting team effectively
  • Located within 30 minutes of downtown Grand Rapids to allow for onsite client support as needed and participation in our quarterly team meetings.
  • Enthusiasm for HR and business strategy while bringing a positive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach to work. Our team thrives on collaboration, engagement, and-most importantly-keeping HR cool.

What You'll Get

  • A chance to collaborate with the best in the biz of a growing firm in an incredibly in-demand industry. Despite our ROWE (results-only-work-environment), we're a culturally strong and close-knit team
  • Super flexible and remote/hybrid environment. You get to work where you want and when you want, so long as you don't leave a team member or client hanging and you follow through on your commitments to the firm
  • The opportunity to work with some of the coolest organizations in West Michigan and beyond with the most people-focused leaders
  • Opportunities to grow into more HR responsibilities, as your career aspirations may desire
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Home office & data stipend
