To thrive as a Household Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in household management or related roles. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, scheduling tools, and sometimes a valid driver’s license or basic first aid certification is typically required. Trustworthiness, discretion, and excellent communication skills help build rapport with employers and adapt to changing household needs. Additionally, maintaining discretion and professionalism is essential, as Household Assistants often work in private environments and may handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities and Duties

WHO/WHAT: Most families have a parent who keeps everyone on schedule. This family has a 2½-year-old. She's the first one ready to go, the first one reminding everyone where they need to be, and often the one keeping the whole household moving. But with a new baby arriving soon, Mom and Dad are looking for a nanny/household manager who can step into the beautiful chaos of life with a toddler and newborn. Dad works long hours outside the home, while Mom is a stay-at-home parent who is deeply involved with the children and looking for a true teammate. Rather than taking over completely, you'll work alongside Mom, helping create more breathing room in their days and bringing consistency to a household that currently feels stretched thin.

This role will be a blend of household management and childcare. Household duties may include laundry, dishes, bottle washing, tidying common spaces, vacuuming and sweeping, organizing, running errands, meal prep, helping with meal planning, taking out trash, and generally keeping the home running smoothly. Mom enjoys cooking but would love support with ingredient preparation, healthy meal ideas, and creating systems that make daily life easier. Childcare responsibilities will ebb and flow depending on the family's needs, with plenty of opportunities to engage the children through play, reading, conversation, outdoor activities, and age-appropriate learning experiences. Their curious toddler especially loves books, puzzles, and asking questions, and the family hopes to find someone who naturally fosters a love of learning through conversation, creative play, exploration, and everyday teachable moments while nurturing her confidence, independence, and joy.

The schedule is still somewhat flexible, though mornings are the family's busiest time and would be strongly preferred. For the right long-term fit, they are open to discussing a variety of part-time arrangements, with the possibility of additional hours in the future.

This family isn't looking for perfection. They're looking for partnership. Someone who notices the laundry basket before it overflows, chops the vegetables before dinner prep begins, and can jump from reading books with a toddler to organizing a pantry without missing a beat. If that sounds like your sweet spot, then we can't wait to introduce you.

THE IDEAL NANNY IS…ADAPTABLE. You understand that no two days with young children look exactly the same. One morning you may be reading books and singing songs with a toddler; the next you may be folding laundry while Mom feeds the baby. You're organized without being rigid, nurturing without being permissive, and proactive without needing constant direction.

You take pride in your work and believe professionalism matters. You're dependable, punctual, communicative, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed. You notice when the diaper supplies are running low, when the refrigerator needs restocking, or when a simple organizational system could make life easier for everyone. Most importantly, you genuinely enjoy supporting families during busy seasons of life and understand that sometimes the greatest gift you can give a parent is helping them feel a little less overwhelmed. If you're looking for a meaningful long-term role where your contributions will truly make a difference each day, we'd love to hear from you.
