Part-Time Mail Clerk
Mail Services at The University of Tampa is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Mail Clerk to support the evening and weekend operation of our mailroom. This role includes processing incoming/outgoing mail, preparing packages, operating locker systems, and assisting students, faculty, and staff with mail-related inquiries.
This position is classified as a non-student hourly employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled—even when main campus offices are closed due to weather or other operational needs.
Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and distributing U.S. Mail and packages in accordance with federal and university guidelines. Accurately process and deliver mail/packages from USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other couriers. Answer customer inquiries regarding packages, deliveries, and locker pickups. Assist with the management and operation of the parcel locker system. Maintain records and logs related to mail delivery and receipt. Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Operate scanners, handheld devices, and mailing software with accuracy. Participate in training and actively use university systems and platforms. Contribute to a professional, respectful, and inclusive work environment. Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations. Lead Saturday shift, supervising 1-2 students.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED required. Prior customer service or mailroom experience preferred. Some college coursework or college work experience is preferred. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Strong attention to detail with frequent repetitive tasks. Ability to stand for long periods and lift 70 lbs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse campus community. Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn new software and platforms.
Work Schedule Academic Year: Tuesday–Friday: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Part-time schedule may not exceed 29 hours per week/1000 hours per calendar year.
