Short Description
The Events and Operations Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all catering and hospitality events across the ByteDance campus. This role is responsible for managing the entire event lifecycle- from client communication and planning through execution and post-event coordination- while ensuring an exceptional hospitality experience.
Working closely with culinary, operations, and client stakeholders, the Events and Operations Manager will oversee catering requests, pop-up activations, chef demonstrations, and other special events. This individual will manage all event correspondence, coordinate logistics with onsite teams, and ensure seamless execution. As the catering program continues to grow, this position offers the opportunity to build and lead a dedicated events team.

Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary client contact for all catering requests, special events, chef demonstrations, pop-ups, and hospitality activations.
  • Manage event inquiries, proposals, confirmations, and client communications through CaterTrax and ByteDance's internal communication platforms.
  • Coordinate event logistics with culinary, operations, and front-of-house teams to ensure flawless execution.
  • Develop detailed event timelines, production schedules, and operational plans while anticipating and resolving potential challenges.
  • Partner with onsite leadership to deliver exceptional hospitality experiences that exceed client expectations.
  • Plan, organize, and execute promotional events and campus activations that drive engagement and participation.
  • Monitor event budgets, labor utilization, and operational expenses while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service.
  • Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards are consistently maintained.
  • Support day-to-day café operations as needed while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members as the events program expands.
  • Analyze event performance, client feedback, and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Event Management, Culinary Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in catering, hospitality, event management, corporate dining, hotel, restaurant, or conference services.
  • Experience managing high-volume catering operations and coordinating multiple events simultaneously.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills with a hospitality-first mindset.
  • Experience using catering management software such as CaterTrax or similar event management systems preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including budgeting, labor management, and cost control.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms.
  • ServSafe Certification or local Department of Health Certification preferred.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to support occasional early mornings, evenings, or special events as business needs require.
