Mint Cannabis is seeking to employ a Pastry Cook at their Tempe location.

Ideal candidates will possess a strong work ethic, value teamwork, have professional integrity, a strong sense of personal accountability, and be career-orientated. If you are a detail-oriented Pastry Cook with a strong background in baked goods creation, we want to hear from you.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Pastry Chef must have a proven ability to create a broad range of baked goods from gourmet pastries, desserts, and custom baked goods. The ideal candidate for this role understands the subtle ways that different flavors work together and has an appreciation for artistic presentation. Responsible for food preparation and general kitchen sanitation. Must have extended knowledge of kitchen equipment. Responsible for maintaining a clean cooking and working area. Must maintain a neat a professional appearance and manner.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create unique baked goods based on client specifications.
  • Create scalable recipes for all new dishes.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is always clean and meets all local health code requirements.
  • Developing creative customized baked goods that meet company expectations.
  • Meet with company officials to discuss specific baking needs and any special requests.
  • Organize tastings to test out new dessert and bakery items.
  • Provides patients with education and information about cannabis and alternatives.
  • Maintain and count inventory and work towards cost reduction methods.
  • Assists management staff in the general operation of the facility.
  • Responsible for prep work of the kitchen. Including a.m. line, p.m. line, and special functions.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of work area.
  • Must always monitor inventory and report items that need to be reordered.
  • Responsible for receiving incoming food orders and rotating stock.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean uniform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years experience as a Pastry Chef
  • Associate degree in Pastry Arts or other culinary certification highly desired
  • Applicant must be twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Applicant must consent to a criminal background check performed by the Company and/or the Arizona Department of Health Services.
  • Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of the criminal background check conducted by the Arizona Department of Health Services.
  • Valid Food Handlers License
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License
  • High school diploma or equivalent. (Culinary degree preferred)
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to provide a portfolio of creative work for consideration.
  • A precise eye for detail.
  • Excels in task delegation and kitchen station management.
  • General knowledge of the use of medicinal cannabis and related products.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • General knowledge of cannabis products including product brands and types.
  • General knowledge of cannabis product regulations including dispensing procedures and patient transaction limits.
  • Excellent skills in basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation.
  • Basic knife handling skills.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions.
