Description of Work
The Catering Prep Chef/Driver is an integral member of the catering team. This position will assist the entire Catering department.
In this role you will:
  • Safely operate the catering box truck, or other University vehicles in all weather conditions.
  • Oversee and execute the pickup, drop off and delivery of food, materials, and equipment necessary for events.
  • Support the culinary and front of house teams with operational assistance, including food preparation, dishwashing, event set up, tear down, and clean up.
  • Ensure the Catering vehicles are following proper maintenance schedules in accordance with University protocols.
  • Have a customer service focus, ability to utilizes effective time management skills, and a strong attention to detail with high accuracy are vital to this position.

Schedule varies and includes early morning, evenings, late night, and weekend shifts.

Minimum Required Qualifications
8th grade education and 3 years of driving with the ability to drive a box truck; equivalent education/experience considered. Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary. Flexibility, reliability, ability to communicate and be a team player essential. Accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with a variety of individuals. Ability to safely operate a delivery vehicle. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement and the ability to pass a DMV check authorizing them to operate university vehicles. Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain upon employment required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience driving a box truck. Experience working in a fast paced ever changing environment. Knowledge of University operations.
