Job description

Primary point of contact and accountability for ensuring projects meet client's expectations. Interfaces with client engineering representatives and other discipline engineers within the Valdes organization. Responsible for leading the Valdes team and ensuring project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with specifications. Maintains good business relationships with client counterparts throughout the course of the project. Responsible for sign-off of the completed project and also a final project report to close-out the contract.ย 
Responsibilities:
  • Strong project management experience with the capability and initiative to perform the following tasks while supervising/mentoring a staff and maintaining strong client relationshipsย 
  • Participate in all required safety activities. Promote safety in all aspects of the project
  • Direct, coordinate, budget, scope and manage multi-discipline projects of any size
  • Manage, coordinate, and administer projects from the conceptual stages through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up and prime contract closeoutย 
  • Manage one or more Project Engineers assigned under her/him to support the execution of the projects under their management
  • Develop new client accounts and maintain existing business relationships with client counterparts and management team
  • Review and approve invoices to the client, as well as manage estimates, schedules, and reports being sent to the clientย ย 
  • Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the staff to achieve client's established project objectives
  • Assist Business Development and Client Manager in business related activities
  • All other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of all engineering disciplines, plant operations within their sector
  • Leadership skills such as conflict resolution, risk evaluation, mentoring and steadinessย 
  • Ability to properly delegate and follow up with team to assure project is completed to client satisfaction on schedule and on budget
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD softwareย 
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline project design execution and construction sequence
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project and Primavera are pluses
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of related experience in project engineering or project management, or equivalent experience in one of the engineering disciplines with cross training in project execution
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, substations, power systems, or industrial electrical facilities
  • Experience managing projects involving aging infrastructure replacement, rehabilitation, and/or modernizationย 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical and safety codes and standards.
  • PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
$100,000 - $175,000 a year
