We take the accuracy, completeness and compliance of our medical records very seriously. We require Health Information Management to do the same. This job has it all - from performing medical record integrity audits, to coordinating training. It requires a system data expert with great communication skills and sound judgment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Work Location:

This is a remote position with a requirement to report on-site at one of the following locations at least five (5) times per month:

  • SSC - Indianapolis Education and Support Service Center
    421 N Emerson Ave, Greenwood, IN

  • CBO - Coordinated Business Office
    2434 Interstate Plaza Drive, Hammond, IN

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8 am - 5 pm

  • Performquality audits and reviewsfor all HIM functions, including scanning workflows to ensure data integrity and quality standards are met.

  • Review results in a timely manner with HIM leadership for corrective or disciplinary action.

  • Assist HIM leadership with training and/or development of a performance improvement track for HIM employees in the disciplinary process related to quality or productivity performance.

  • Ensurecorporate HIM policy and procedure, quality audit plan, orientation plan and operational workflow are maintained and standardized.

  • Analyze findings from reviews to identify trends that do not align with established policies and procedures, and coordinate communication and training with HIM departments and clinical departments across Franciscan as a result of the findings.

  • Functionas an active member of the HIM Corporate management team, providing coding expertise to align with regional and corporate strategic plans and goals.

  • Generate, interpret and analyze trends, to support decisions and improve quality, productivity, compliance, daily activities.

  • Assist with identification, creation, and implementation of process improvements and innovative programs, according to industry best practice standards, to make best use of resources, decrease costs, and continuously improve HIM services across the corporation.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a consistent HIM operations orientation program, workflow training materials, HIM reference materials, and corporate HIM education, and training policies and procedures.

  • Monitor changes to EPIC and other Franciscan software systems; accreditation and regulatory changes; Franciscan policies and procedures that impact HIM.

  • Review corporate HIM policies and procedures with staff annually, reinforcing any changes that have occurred over the past year.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree Health Information Management - Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management - Preferred

  • 3 years EHR and HIM processing experience - Preferred

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) within 180 days - Required or

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) within 180 days - Required
