Job description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a Director, Demand Planning, to lead Rivian in developing world-class practices for forecasting demand, planning production and managing inventory. In this role, you will lead and develop a team, define new processes, and implement technology to enable our growth as a leader in the electric vehicle space.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of consensus demand forecasts across Rivian’s product lines, leveraging statistical models, market insights, and business planning
  • Lead the development and implementation of new processes to ensure tight alignment between on-the-ground inventory and demand across Rivian’s fulfillment network
  • Partner with S&OP and IT teams to drive strategic projects for end-to-end demand planning capabilities and technologies, including the use of AI and ML to automate and inform commercial planning
  • Act as a primary decision-maker and escalation point for demand/supply issues, ensuring timely resolution in partnership with other S&OP stakeholders
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team of demand and inventory planners

Qualifications
  • Proven track record of successfully leading end-to-end planning processes, including demand planning, sales and operations planning and inventory allocation
  • Experience driving complex decision-making processes, including navigating conflicting viewpoints and proactively driving to consensus among senior leadership
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for executive audiences
  • Deep understanding of consumer demand dynamics, including pricing and incentives strategy, particularly in the automotive or other durable goods industries
  • Expertise in inventory and fulfillment strategy, including experience optimizing inventory levels and allocation in a network distribution model
  • Strong team leadership and people development skills
  • 8-10 years experience in demand planning, sales operations, supply chain planning, or management consulting
  • Experience with advanced planning systems (e.g., JDA/Blue Yonder, o9, Kinaxis, SAP APO/IBP) preferred
  • MBA with specialization in supply chain management, operations management, and/or data science preferred

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$211,000 for Georgia, Illinois, and Michigan based applicants,  $160,000-$230,000 for Southern California based applicants, and 170,000-250,000 for Bay Area based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian’s 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
