Job description

The Fixed Term Dispatcher will report to the Dispatch Manager and will be responsible for the successful transactions of equipment moves, inbound and outbound freight movements as well as ensuring customer interactions are handled at the highest professional level. This position coordinates final goods delivery efforts between management, sales, customers, and plant operations in our fast-paced work environment. Pre-planning of loads, communicating with carriers and customers, and coordinating with members of the team are all key components of this role.
Essential Functions

  • Responsible for strategically dispatching company and/or third part common carrier trucks to meet customer needs
  • Responsible for ensuring trucks are weighed when arriving to and leaving the plant; scale house operations
  • Completion of proper electronic forms, paperwork including freight invoices and bills of lading
  • Create and maintain a functional loadout schedule and communicate changes or delays to plant operators, customer, sales, and carriers via central database
  • Contact customers to communicate changes, delays or concerns and to reschedule delivery timelines if needed
  • Collaborate with lab employees to ensure that product certifications and certification paperwork is completed before trucks are loaded
  • Update and maintain trailer equipment usage tracking
  • Data entry of necessary production, sale, carrier profiles and shipment data into proper electronic systems
  • Support cross-region scheduling of inbounds and transfer movements
  • Participate in demand planning discussions with Customers, Sales, and Operations
  • Review and communicate Key Performance Indicators specific to carrier's services
  • Schedule and maintain records of Annual DOT & PM's for AMI semi units and trailers
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

  • Required High School or Equivalent or GED


Experience Qualifications

  • Preferred 1+ years 1-3 years' experience in a dispatch, trucking or transportation position

  • Valid driver's license Required


Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Must be able to tolerate scents common to fuels and asphalts loading operations, as well as those of construction and maintenance related activities such as welding, painting, and tank cleaning
  • Will be required to successfully pass a physical and drug test
  • Willingness to work shift work, overtime and on call shifts for after-hours and weekend support
  • Willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment as required when on the plant property
