Job description

FinQuery stands at the forefront of accounting automation, driven by a deep specialty in contract-driven accounting. Our AI-enabled platform transforms how controllers and finance teams operate, seamlessly managing and accounting for the complex financial contracts-like leases, prepaids, and accruals-that are the backbone of modern business. We are not just a software provider; we are the unified subledger that eliminates time-intensive, error-prone technical accounting workflows, ensuring financial reports are accurate and empowering our customers to focus on strategic, high-value tasks.

FinQuery is the global leader in lease accounting (as recognized on G2.com) and serve more than 8,500 customers worldwide. Our growth trajectory has been consistently validated by the Inc 5000, which has recognized us as one of the fastest-growing private companies for five consecutive years.

Solve the Problems That Matter Most:

At FinQuery, we've eliminated the game of telephone between the people who talk to users and the people who write the code. We turned the traditional Product Owner role inside out, moving toward a high-autonomy model where Product Engineers own both the "Why" and the "How." In this role, you aren't just receiving a backlog of technical specs, you are the strategist, the user researcher, and the builder. You will deeply understand our customers' financial compliance workflows, define the product vision, and then turn around and write the clean, production-grade code to make it a reality. We are looking for a rare hybrid: someone with the sharp product intuition of a veteran Product Manager, backed by the strong technical foundation of a Software Engineer.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Drive Product Strategy & Execution: Own the roadmap for your feature surface area. You will conduct user discovery, analyze behavior metrics, and prioritize what to build next based on business impact.

  • Bridge Vision and Code: Eliminate the friction between product requirements and technical design. You will translate highly complex financial and accounting standards (like ASC 842 and GASB 87) into elegant data models and intuitive software workflows.

  • Ship Production-Grade Code: Actively build, test, and deploy the features you define. You will write clean backend logic, design schemas, and ensure your code is secure, scalable, and auditable.

  • Amplify Through AI: Leverage LLM-powered development tools, copilots, and automation as a core part of your daily workflow to accelerate execution, allowing you to spend more time on high-level product design and architecture.

  • Own the Metrics: You aren't done when the code is merged. You will track feature adoption, gather user feedback, and iterate continuously to ensure your technical solutions solve real business problems.

The Expertise You'll Bring:
  • The Product Mindset: 5+ years of experience in a product-focused role (Product Manager, Product Owner, or Product Engineer) where you routinely owned feature definition, user research, and roadmapping.

  • Strong Technical Backing: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience. You must be comfortable diving into a complex codebase, writing reliable code in Python (or similar backend languages), and working directly with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MS SQL Server).

  • Architectural Literacy: Ability to design scalable database schemas and understand cloud infrastructure (AWS) implications for the product features you scope.

  • Data-Driven & Empirical: Experience using product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Pendo, Heap) and SQL queries to validate hypotheses and measure feature success.

  • High-Bandwidth Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate product vision to stakeholders, collaborate closely with UX designers, and write clear, concise documentation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field is required. Strong preference for candidates who have also completed coursework or certifications in business administration, finance, or product strategy.

Nice To Haves
  • Prior experience in FinTech, accounting technology, or B2B SaaS platforms.

  • Experience working in high-autonomy engineering cultures (e.g., continuous deployment, rapid prototyping).

What Great Looks Like Here
  • User-Obsessed: You build software to solve actual customer pain points, not just to write elegant code for its own sake.

  • Highly Autonomous: You don't wait for a spec document. You identify a gap in the product, define the solution, write the technical implementation plan, and ship it.

  • Analytically Rigorous: You ground your product decisions in data, market realities, and strict technical feasibility.

$100,000 - $130,000 a year
The base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Please note: The final base pay for this position will be determined in FinQuery's sole discretion consistent with applicable law, and based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's skills, qualifications for the role, job-related knowledge, work experience, and FinQuery's business and other operational considerations.
