Job description

Data Analyst

Blue & Co., LLC is an independent advisory and accounting firm providing tax, audit, and consulting services with a focus on practical, client-centered solutions. We combine deep industry expertise with a collaborative culture to help clients navigate complex financial and operational challenges.

Help Shape the Future of Data-Driven Consulting

Blue & Co. is making a significant investment in Data & Analytics as a strategic growth initiative for the firm. We are building a modern Data & Analytics practice focused on developing proprietary data products, AI-enabled consulting services, and scalable analytics capabilities that help healthcare organizations make better business decisions.

We believe AI is fundamentally transforming how consulting is delivered. Successful candidates will be comfortable leveraging modern AI tools to accelerate analysis, uncover deeper insights, automate repetitive work, and solve complex business problems while exercising sound professional judgment.

This role is centered on understanding the business behind the data. You will partner with healthcare consultants and client stakeholders to uncover business challenges, define meaningful KPIs, recommend analytical approaches, and design reporting solutions that enable better decision-making. Rather than simply responding to reporting requests, you will help determine what should be measured, why it matters, and how insights should be communicated to create lasting value for our clients.

While this position will spend most of its time supporting our nationally recognized Healthcare Consulting practice, the analytical frameworks, dashboards, and reporting strategies you help create will establish scalable capabilities that extend across the entire firm.

This is an opportunity to influence how data drives consulting decisions, helping shape client strategy rather than simply delivering reports.

Ideal Locations: Louisville, Indianapolis. Candidates in other Blue & Co., LLC locations will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with consulting teams and client stakeholders to understand business objectives, identify opportunities where data can improve decision-making, and recommend analytical solutions that deliver meaningful business value.
  • Challenge assumptions and help define the questions that should be answered, not simply the reports that should be built.
  • Design reporting strategies, KPI frameworks, and interactive dashboards that enable healthcare leaders to make better operational and financial decisions
  • Develop analytics and dashboards supporting healthcare revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, denials, underpayments, and contract performance.
  • Analyze healthcare claims (835/837), EHR/EMR, accounting, and reimbursement data to identify trends, improve operational performance, and support client decision-making.
  • Develop reporting and analytical solutions supporting CMS reporting, HCRIS/cost reports, wage index, reimbursement analytics, price transparency, and healthcare benchmarking initiatives.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within recurring reporting and analytics workflows to improve efficiency and data consistency.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Power BI dashboards and semantic models.
  • Work with Microsoft Fabric to support data-driven application features, including data analysis and reporting through Power BI dashboards and reports

Technical Requirements

  • Business Intelligence: Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query (M), semantic models, and report optimization.
  • Data Foundations: Strong understanding of dimensional modeling , ETL/ELT concepts, and data integration.
  • Data Platforms: Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and/or Snowflake. Experience with Financial ERP
  • Healthcare Data Domains: Experience working with healthcare claims (835/837), EHR/EMR, accounting, reimbursement, and other healthcare operational data sources.

Preferred & Related Skills

  • Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate operational needs into scalable analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to accelerate analysis, automate repetitive tasks, improve reporting quality, and solve complex business problems.
  • Ability to translate healthcare operational questions into meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and actionable business insights.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to lead discovery discussions, ask insightful questions, and translate business objectives into analytical solutions.

Nice to Haves

  • Exposure to healthcare reimbursement support analytics, wage index analysis, or healthcare price transparency initiatives.
  • Understanding of healthcare revenue cycle operations including billing, collections, denials, underpayments, and contract performance.
  • Experience working in an accounting firm or with accounting software
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques to leverage LLMs

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, or healthcare consulting.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with a desire to learn and adopt emerging technologies.

We are responsive. We are caring. We are advocates.
