Job description

What You Will Do
  • Be a presence on the floor, increase wine sales and wine service standards
  • Work nightly service
  • Responsible for section of dining room
  • Touching all tables in section
  • Running bottles to entire restaurant
  • Opening bottles in assigned section
  • Guest first mentality which means whoever has time to open the bottle, MUST open the bottle regardless of who sold it
  • Assist Wine Director/Head Sommelier with all administrative duties
  • Manage the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the restaurant's wine collection
  • Weekly inventory
  • Receive wine on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • Team will alternate coming in at 9am on shipment days
  • Monitor the conditions of the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage and organization
  • Recommend and serve wine to guests according to their tastes and preferences
  • Work independently and with a team inside established procedures associated with Maple and Ash
  • Advise guests according to their personal needs (related to their taste, the food and wine pairing, the occasion or the budget)
  • Time management will be shared between working nightly service on the floor as a key member of the front of house team and the management of your wine list
  • Lead staff training on wine and other beverages by conducting tastings at pre-shift or teaching a class (will set up bi-monthly wine classes for staff

  • Quick to react to complaints and unusual service situations, always putting guests' needs first
  • Team oriented - must be willing to support service captains on the floor
