Overview:
Directs and coordinates the daily activities of the manufacturing areas to include meat manufacturing and sanitation to meet or exceed plant's KPIs in order to achieve business results.
Job Description:
Essential Functions
  • Ensure attainment and quality of products in order to achieve distributor/customer total satisfaction. Take corrective measures to address any gaps within area of responsibility.
  • Supervise and provide directions for team members engaged in production, sanitation, cooking and chilling.
  • With support from HR and L&D, build and maintain an effective supervisory team.
  • Analyze operation on a continual basis to improve costs, quality and service.
  • Evaluate staffing needs on a weekly basis.
  • Build an effective relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Work closely with the USDA Inspector to ensure that all USDA Regulations are adhered to and deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner. Review USDA NR reports and learn to respond to the corrective actions necessary in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in the research, justification, and implementation in long-range planning of the facility.
  • Establish goals for self and team to align with plant objectives. Cascade goals to supervision team for alignment and successful execution.
  • Actively participate/support in the management of department functions that include the following: Production Scheduling, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, Area Sanitation, Heat Processing, Product Chilling and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Plant Manager.
  • Assist in the training and development of all employees in area of responsibility, specifically Supervisors and Lead Persons.
  • Ensure cross training of employees on premium jobs is being accomplished.
  • Ensure Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Quality Assurance Programs and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Process (HACCP) are being followed.
  • Ensure all sanitary, quality and consistency requirements are met in area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of Total Quality Management (TQM) process.
  • Direct and enforce the Safety Program in area of responsibility.
  • Actively participate in capital expenditure requisitioning process, budgeting and goal setting.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Reliability teams to ensure required preventive maintenance is being performed on all department equipment.
  • Ensure all rules, policies and regulations of Company are enforced.
  • Attend the staff meeting on a daily basis and be a part of conducting the daily Supervisors meeting.
  • Ensure smooth transition and communication system is in place between shifts.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or work experience/knowledge equivalent to such degree is required.
Three (3) to five(5) years related industry experience, preferably in food plant sanitation, smokehouse operations and meat-processing production
Exposure to and/or experience in Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management (TQM), Hazard Analysis Control Critical Process (HACCP) and Safety are a plus.
English/Spanish bilingual would be a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner and ensure understanding from all levels across the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Must have basic math skills and ability to perform calculations of formulations, ingredients, yields, man-hours, etc.
Must be able to create, read and analyze charts, graphs and logs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to deal with multiple personalities. Sound judgement in decision making. Ability to prioritize needs in a crisis time. Ability to prioritize the needs of the daily production schedule.

The ability to be on your feet and walking the facility for lengthy time periods.
