Job description

Overview

Scope of Position: Provide support and advocacy for foster families and the children in their care by being a liaison between the family and the State across all areas of the child welfare system, with primary responsibility for foster families located in the Greater Atlanta region.

Reports to: Supervisor, Case Managers - Homes

Responsibilities
  • Acts as a liaison between the foster family and the Child Welfare System communicating with and attending meetings with the Division of Family and Children Services Case Managers, Juvenile Court, Guardian Ad Litem, Court Appointed Special Advocates, School Administration, Therapists and other collateral contacts on behalf of the foster family and the foster child 
  • Ensures that each foster family and foster child has the resources and supports that they need to make the placement successful and beneficial for all involved, including being available to the foster family 24/7 for unexpected events or emergencies unless otherwise arranged 
  • Works primarily in the Northeast Greater Atlanta (Gwinnett/Hall County) areas and visits with each child a minimum of 2 times per month, one of which must be conducted in the foster home 
  • Uploads all required documentation in GA-SHINES, GA-SCORE, and Extended Reach within the time constraints laid out by both Sate and WinShape policy in order to maintain licensure and contracting requirements 
  • Keeps the foster family informed at all times of case plans, permanency plans, court hearings, panel reviews, and any other meetings associated with the child(ren) in care as well as continuing education requirements and upcoming trainings 
  • Conducts the actual placement of a child(ren) into foster homes, within the assigned service region, including participating in rotating on-call night and weekend responsibilities, to ensure paperwork and procedure are completed properly 
  • Travels throughout the state, with a focus on the Northeast Greater Atlanta (Gwinnett/Hall County) areas, transporting children, attending meetings and court hearings, and completing visits with foster and biological families 
  • Attends all meetings and trainings required by the Supervisor, Case Managers - Homes, Director, WinShape Foster Care - Homes, Senior Director, WinShape Homes, WinShape Foundation, and the State of Georgia 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Case Managers - Homes or Director, WinShape Foster Care 
Qualifications

Spiritual: 

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community andactivelypursuingChriston a consistent basis 
  • Commitment to discipleship, prayer, and Bible study 
  • Servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christ 

Education: 

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Social Work, Psychology, or the behavioral sciences 

Professional: 

  • 2-4 years work experience in a child welfare setting 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, complex problems, and projects simultaneously 
  • Maintains full time hours and must be present in the Atlanta office when not conducting field work unless otherwise arranged with supervisor 
  • Must be able to reliably serve foster families in the Northeast Greater Atlanta region (Gwinnett and Hall Counties), including frequent local travel and in-person support 
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekends 
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills 
  • Possesses the ability to use discretion and confidentiality 
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including telephone, email, written documentation, and face-to-face communication 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Possess a valid driver's license and has an acceptable driving record 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Social Work 
  • Working knowledge of GA SHINES, GA SCORE, and Extended Reach database systems 
  • NTDC Trainer Certification 
  • Lives in or willing to work in the Greater Atlanta area
