Position Overview

The Outbound Growth Account Executive is responsible for prospecting, developing, and closing new sales agreements for companies with up to 50 employees. The Outbound Growth Account Executives at Paylocity works in office in a fast-paced business environment that is highly competitive and quota-driven. The best Outbound Growth Account Executives are hunters and field warriors, capable of creating their own activity in the field to drive revenue. A strong predictor of success for an Account Executive, is someone who incorporates a consultative approach to their sales technique, has exceptional prospecting skills, and can execute a consistent sales process.


Primary Responsibilities

The below represents the primary duties of the position, others may be assigned as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Execute the full sales process with every assigned lead.
  • Conduct virtual product demonstrations showcasing the full Paylocity technology stack.
  • Determine prospective clients’ HR and payroll needs and present tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals and maintain timely follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
  • Generate new business through outbound efforts including telemarketing, referrals, networking, and personal/professional contacts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners and other referral sources.
  • Organize, complete, and obtain required documentation for conversion from prior payroll providers to Paylocity.
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure smooth client transitions.
  • Maintain accurate activity, forecast, and pipeline reports as requested.
  • Stay current on HCM trends, product knowledge, and industry changes.
  • Attend weekly meetings and trainings on site.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or military service preferred.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong written, verbal, and virtual presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a competitive, high-activity sales environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking and sound decision-making skills, especially when handling objections or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to manage administrative components of the sales cycle (documentation, file management, contract coordination).
  • Customer service orientation and ability to build strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and general internet usage.
  • Must report to an approved Paylocity location.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within assigned territory as needed.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for typing and document handling.
  • Ability to travel to prospective client sites when required.
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly.
  • Mental capability for reading, analyzing, calculating, and problem-solving.

The pay for this position is $65,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
