Mastery of creative software like Adobe Creative Suite, knowledge of project management tools, and familiarity with digital marketing platforms are typically required. These strengths ensure cohesive creative output, effective client engagement, and the successful execution of innovative campaigns.

What is a Group Creative Director?

A Group Creative Director is a senior leadership role in advertising, marketing, or creative agencies, responsible for overseeing the creative direction and output of multiple teams or brands. They guide creative strategy, mentor creative directors and their teams, and ensure that all work aligns with a client’s objectives and brand identity. Group Creative Directors collaborate closely with clients, account leads, and other departments to deliver innovative and effective campaigns. Their vision and leadership help shape the overall creative culture within an organization.

How does a Group Creative Director typically balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on creative work?

As a Group Creative Director, you’ll find that much of your time is dedicated to leading and mentoring creative teams, setting the vision for multiple projects, and ensuring cohesive brand messaging across campaigns. While you may still participate in brainstorming sessions and review key creative deliverables, the majority of your role involves strategic oversight, stakeholder management, and facilitating collaboration among art directors, copywriters, and account teams. Striking the right balance means empowering your teams to execute ideas while providing guidance and feedback to maintain quality and consistency. This leadership focus can be both challenging and rewarding, especially for those transitioning from more hands-on creative roles.

The Creative Director will lead a multidisciplinary team of designers and creatives, guiding concept development from idea to execution while ensuring all work aligns with brand standards and business goals. This is both a strategic and tactical role, ideal for someone who can think big, lead confidently, and step in to create when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall creative vision and execution across all projects and brands
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of designers and creatives while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment

  • Create clear and compelling creative briefs that align stakeholders and guide execution
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including marketing, operations, and leadership to bring projects to life
  • Present concepts and creative work to leadership and incorporate feedback while maintaining creative integrity
  • Oversee multiple projects at once, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met
  • Maintain brand consistency while pushing innovation and creative excellence
  • Stay actively involved in the creative process by concepting, designing, and problem solving alongside the team when needed

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business goals into creative direction
  • High level of organization with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong conceptual thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with senior leadership
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms
  • Willingness to be hands-on and contribute directly to creative work when needed
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to present and defend creative ideas to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in a creative leadership role, either agency or in-house
  • Proven experience managing and developing creative teams
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise across branding, campaigns, and multi-channel design
  • Experience with environmental design, experiential marketing, or themed entertainment is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of web development (HTML/CSS capabilities) is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing diverse design projects and creative thinking.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A leader who can inspire, mentor, and elevate a creative team
  • A strategic thinker who can translate business goals into compelling creative work
  • A hands-on contributor who is comfortable both directing and designing
  • A collaborator who thrives working across teams and with leadership
  • Someone who can balance big-picture vision with day-to-day execution

Perks:

  • Competitive pay
  • Paid time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) with match
  • Employee discounts across Revel Group properties
