About Carmen

Carmen Schools of Science & Technology (Carmen) is a charter school network in Milwaukee, WI with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. The Carmen Schools network includes five schools with 1,900 students in grades 6th-12th.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000 / year

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator at Carmen Schools of Science & Technology works closely with key stakeholders to provide leadership in fundraising, marketing, and development initiatives that support the network's mission and goals. The goal of the Development Coordinator is to design programs of giving that attract the maximum gift support possible to the network. Qualifications

  2. Bachelor's degree
  3. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in fundraising, community engagement, or stakeholder engagement; experience working for schools or community organizations preferred
  4. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactiveness
  5. Demonstrated ability to attend to multiple areas of responsibility and meet target goals and objectives
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  7. Experience with grant writing and reporting is a plus
  8. Familiarity with the local community

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  1. Drive fundraising efforts for Carmen Schools in partnership with the Director of Development, including fundraising, annual giving campaigns, and soliciting individual, corporate, and foundation proposals
  2. Nurture and maintain a highly collaborative relationship with the Director of Development, school leadership and board members, supporting them in all their fundraising responsibilities, and accompanying them on donor visits when appropriate
  3. Manage gift proposals and process follow-up documents, prepare acknowledgement letters, etc
  4. Identify individual, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities and help draft grant applications
  5. Maintain a database of all contributors and provide development reports as required
  6. Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to create an annual report and create/produce fundraising-related communication materials to expand and enhance the Carmen Schools visibility and branding

Alumni Engagement

  1. Create and support the Carmen Alumni Board and strengthen relationships with the schools' alumni to further develop alumni giving and programming
  2. Maintain the Alumni Database and keep it up-to-date in collaboration with the Chief of College and Post-Transition Team
  3. Create Alumni newsletters, spotlights, and networking opportunities
  4. Collaborate with Director of Careers and Partnerships and Career Team to support Career related programming throughout the year

Community Relations/Engagement

  1. Set up and attend local events regularly to engage potential donors and build lasting relationships with community members
  2. Partner with local community agencies to create service opportunities and programmatic opportunities that align with Carmen's mission for students, families, staff, and the broader Milwaukee community
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position will work predominantly Monday - Friday; however, this position will require work on evenings and weekends as necessary.
