Position SummaryThe Graduate Nurse (RN - Pending Licensure) provides patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with organizational policies, competencies, and state regulations. This role is designed for individuals who have successfully graduated from an accredited RN program and are actively preparing to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.
The Graduate Nurse supports safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while developing clinical skills and transitioning into independent RN practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed RN, consistent with training and competency level.
- Assist with patient assessments by collecting and reporting vital signs, symptoms, behavioral observations, and patient concerns.
- Support the implementation of individualized nursing care plans and interventions under RN direction.
- Administer medications and treatments only as permitted by state regulations and facility policy, and under appropriate supervision.
- Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner in the medical record.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Promote patient and family education related to treatment, recovery, safety, and wellness.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols; promptly report any concerns or incidents.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for patient rights at all times.
- Seek guidance when encountering unfamiliar or complex clinical situations.
- Participate in orientation, training, mentorship, and ongoing clinical development.
- Complete all required trainings as designated by the organization and regulatory bodies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required QualificationsEducation & Licensure:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (required).
- Actively preparing to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam (required).
- Eligible for RN licensure in the state of Massachusetts (required).
- Temporary Graduate Nurse permit (if applicable) must be obtained and maintained in good standing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
