MED SURG REGISTERED NURSE – ROCHESTER, NY
 

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – Level II for an excellent hospital opportunity in Rochester, New York. This role is ideal for a highly skilled Med Surg RN with strong telemetry experience who can provide safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute-care environment.

The selected candidate must be flexible and available to work a rotating schedule of Days, Evenings, and Nights, including every other weekend, holidays, on-call, and callback requirements as needed.

Job Summary

The Level II Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, competent, and compassionate nursing care in accordance with established standards of practice, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an experienced Med Surg RN who is comfortable caring for patients with varying levels of acuity, including patients requiring telemetry monitoring. The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical-Surgical patients with varying levels of acuity.
  • Perform thorough and ongoing patient assessments and monitor changes in clinical condition.
  • Provide telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythm and patient status.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate effective patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
  • Communicate patient information effectively during handoffs and throughout the continuum of care.
  • Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, infection prevention, and service excellence.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and discharge needs.
  • Participate in evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • May serve as a Charge Nurse, Preceptor, or unit committee participant based on experience and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse LicenseNY License ONLY
  • Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Recent and relevant Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Telemetry experience is REQUIRED
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) ONLY
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Ability to prioritize patient needs and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Must be flexible and comfortable working a rotating Days/Evenings/Nights schedule
