Job description

Job Summary:

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex projects to improve the Chat infrastructure, manage project schedules, and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the reliability and scalability of Google Chat services.
Responsibilities:
• Own and guide high-impact infrastructure projects from requirements through launch, including defining requirements, identifying dependencies, managing project schedules, and performing risk management.
• Identify trends and themes among project and team issues, and drive root-cause analysis with the engineering, product, and UX teams.
• Address the challenges of scope creep, shifting priorities, and delayed timelines while maintaining a clear focus on delivering results. Work with engineers and leadership to distill complex technical concepts into actionable steps.
• Help bridge the gap between technical teams and executive leadership by showcasing the impact of infrastructure work. Lead efforts to quantify and communicate the value of ongoing projects, helping secure buy-in, alignment on direction and visibility.
• Communicate with and build relationships across the core team and partner teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in program management.
• Experience in software development workflows (code review, testing) and define quality metrics for automated systems.
• Experience leading the end-to-end delivery and technical strategy for mobile and web applications, ensuring architectural alignment across Android, iOS, and Web platforms.
Preferred:
• 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• Experience building and scaling evaluation infrastructure for ML/AI systems, including benchmark design, metrics definition, and quality tracking.
• Experience owning quality and latency tracking systems, identifying underperforming capabilities and curating the optimal configuration.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, adapt to change, and provide flexible thought partnership in a rapidly evolving landscape.
