Job Description

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • 40% - Category Strategy development & Supplier Relationship Management with mainly global suppliers

  • 20% - Strategy / Program Execution in support to the category strategy for assigned categories.

  • 20% - Functional LT liaison, influence, and engagement with key stakeholders, peers, sites, etc.

  • 10% - Ensure proactive Risk Management strategies are developed and executed

  • 10% - Innovation / Technology / Process improvement / Sustainability & Responsible sourcing efforts

Detailed responsibilities will include:
Strategy Development

  • Develop category strategies for assigned categories that align with corporate and functional objectives. Strategies will be developed in conjunction with key stakeholders and other cross-functional partners including Quality, BD Business units, manufacturing plants, etc. The strategy will extend beyond cost value, it will cover technology and innovation, service management, governance, quality, risk, sustainability, etc.


Execution

  • Lead programs and global initiatives, and partners with Procurement Managers and the Procurement Center of Excellence to select suppliers, drive negotiations, establish and supervise contracts. Measure and review supplier performance, lead or support supplier continuous improvement programs and establish vision for and implement supplier relationship management programs.
  • Accountable to ensure projects from strategy get executed and are resourced cross functionally.
  • Developing means of evaluating / communicating supplier performance.
  • Ensure supplier relationship management program results in value to BD.
  • In partnership with BD's Procurement Center of Excellence, negotiate contracts, SOWs, establishing proper SOPs.


Achieving Quality
Ensure that suppliers meet BD's quality requirements and regulatory requirements.


Cost Management

  • Develop and implement effective cost management programs (Globally) to deliver year-on-year cost improvement. This may include ideation events, inflation management, continuous improvement initiatives, etc.
  • Leverage our Center of Excellence to drive proper analysis of cost and deep understanding of total cost of ownership.
  • Develop standard costs &/or budgets for assigned portfolio.


Facilitation

  • Leading cross-functional teams in association with developing sourcing strategies, costs savings and other initiatives as required.
  • Work closely with Global Procurement Teams and Global Category Leads where appropriate.


Market Analysis

  • Investigate supply market and develop an understanding of general and specific market conditions that impact your category. Convert data to insights and insights to actions.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of and Desirable MBA degree.
  • Experience in driving Quality Improvement, Strategic Sourcing, Risk reduction and Operational improvement programs.
  • 10+ years primary packaging category experience. 10+ years global category management experience.
  • Demonstrates procurement excellence on Negotiations, Cost Management practices, Supplier driven value and continuous improvement
  • Experienced in handling Global teams (solid or dotted line resources) and thrives to build effective teams and foster open communication.
  • Strong program management skills for small-medium programs.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing process or category management with a history of successful implementation.
  • Strategic agility and business acumen
  • Able to execute supplier value management, supplier development and continuous improvement.
  • Able to efficiently implement change and innovation.
  • Working and influencing LT level within a matrixed organization.
  • Skilled at developing partnerships; building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • A proven track record of Executing programs and collaborating with others to reach mutual outcomes.
  • Adept at leading and working in diverse and ambiguous environments.
  • Travel about 25% - 40% of the time.
