Job description

We are looking for an experienced Risk Manager to help strengthen operational risk oversight across a global manufacturing environment in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position plays a key role in identifying significant exposures, evaluating the effectiveness of control measures, and guiding practical strategies to reduce loss potential. The role works closely with operational, engineering, and commercial stakeholders to improve decision-making, support disciplined risk governance, and align insurance and mitigation approaches with organizational risk tolerance.


Responsibilities:

• Lead the evaluation of material operational risks across global manufacturing activities, with a focus on high-consequence hazards and potential loss scenarios.

• Work with cross-functional leaders to identify key safeguards, assess whether they are functioning as intended, and recommend actions to strengthen control performance.

• Provide expert analysis on operational and insurable exposures to support decisions involving risk reduction, risk retention, and insurance strategy.

• Help maintain risk registers, reporting tools, and dashboards that give leadership clear visibility into emerging issues and overall risk trends.

• Contribute to stronger governance practices by supporting structured reviews, consistent documentation, and actionable risk insight for senior stakeholders.

• Partner with business and site leadership to integrate risk considerations into operating plans, capital projects, and broader strategic initiatives.

• Review control effectiveness and promote ongoing improvement efforts that reduce vulnerability and improve resilience across operations.

• Support enterprise efforts to manage major hazard risk by collaborating with operational and functional teams on prevention-focused risk practices.

• 7+ years of experience in risk management, operational risk analysis, insurance, or a related function within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Background in chemicals manufacturing or another high-hazard industry with exposure to complex operational risk profiles.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze loss exposure, evaluate controls, and translate findings into practical mitigation strategies.
• Experience working with risk registers, dashboards, reporting frameworks, and governance processes.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk management principles, due diligence practices, and risk analysis methodologies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, finance, and commercial teams across multiple levels of the organization.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present risk insights clearly to leadership.
